Information professionals are at the forefront of the rapidly evolving artificial intelligence (AI) landscape. This session will explore the impact of AI on the roles, responsibilities, and practices of information professionals. Opportunities to generate new ideas, automate workflow, improve information retrieval, and enhance overall user experience will be discussed. Challenges such as digital information literacy, a confusing landscape of AI tools, plagiarized data and fabricated data on AI platforms will be highlighted. Ethical issues such as data privacy and AI algorithms which perpetuate bias in the source training data will also be explored. Participants will have the opportunity to use AI platforms in practical demonstrations which emphasize the learning objectives during this interactive session.
